Rooted in Education

Recognizing the life-changing impact that scholarships had on my own academic journey, I founded The Harold-White Foundation as a way to uplift hardworking students and honor the legacy of the family who shaped my path. Growing up, higher education felt like a distant dream. Still, through determination and the generosity of scholarship donors, I was able to earn my degree with only $14,000 in student loan debt, a milestone that continues to inspire my commitment to helping the next generation access opportunities

with fewer financial barriers.

The Harold-White Foundation proudly awards a $1,000 scholarship and a MacBook to an African American high school senior within Virginia Beach City Public Schools who plans to attend a college or university in the upcoming academic year. This support is designed to do more than ease financial challenges; it is meant to affirm students’ potential, fuel their confidence, and remind them that their dreams are within reach.

This mission has taken on even deeper meaning in the past month following the unexpected passing of my uncle. Jonathan White, affectionately known in Virginia Beach as Coach White, was the one who took me on college tours, emphasized the power of education, and personally dropped me off on move-in day. His encouragement shaped my story, and all of the students he taught and coached. Now, in his honor, the foundation will introduce a memorial scholarship to ensure that his belief in the promise of young people lives on.

Although the foundation’s website is currently under construction, we are actively connecting with the community and welcoming support. We can be reached at theharoldwhitefoundation@gmail.com, and donations are accepted via Zelle at theharoldwhitefoundation@gmail.com.

Through this work, the foundation strives to turn hope into opportunity, one student, one story, and one legacy at a time.
